When is a protester “angry and justified” and when is he a “domestic terrorist”? It all depends on how far left they are.
This week, activists tracked down Senator Krysten Simena in the women’s washroom at Arizona State University, where the Senator teaches a class. Angry that she did not vote for the Democrats’ unprecedented $ 3.5 trillion reconciliation mega-bill, protesters videotaped her walking into a washroom.
The same liberal commentators and politicians who wrung their hands over “civility” in politics under Donald Trump suddenly had an array of justifications.
President Joe Biden said âit happens to everyone. . . it’s part of the process.
CNN’s Ana Navaro and Kirsten Powers have suggested that Sinema deserves the harassment because of his political stance. A New York magazine writer rationalized the provocation “[a]aggressive protest tactics “were just a” symptom “of a larger problem:” When people are excluded from a so-called democratic process, they have no choice but to get agitated. The Senate is a broken institution, an institution hidden by archaic rules like systematic obstruction. “
The idea that Sinema, who won his state with a greater margin than the president, is usurping democracy by opposing his party, is laughable. Sinema is meant to represent Arizona, a moderate swing state, and not the wishes of socialists like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. And imagine if a GOP activist followed a Democratic senator into a bathroom – the left would demand their arrest.
Which brings us to Attorney General Merrick Garland’s unreasonable directive to the FBI and US prosecutors’ offices to investigate parents protesting school boards against critical race theory and mask warrants. The National School Boards Association had asked for federal help for recent threats against educators, comparing it to “domestic terrorism.”
If parents threaten school board members with violence, call the police. But this is not a federal matter. This does not justify Garland announcing that the FBI would have “strategy sessions with the police” and announcing new measures to respond to them.
By turning this into a national “crisis”, the Biden administration is helping teacher unions intimidate parents who dare to oppose policies they disagree with. Chat with a school board member at a meeting, as is your right, and you might get a visit from the federal government. Usually hypocrisy isn’t that scary.
Harassing Sinema is only the passion of the voiceless. Get mad at your school board and your next stop is jail.
