The State Bank of India (SBI) has developed comprehensive digital security guidelines for customers on what they should and should not do to ensure their digital transactions are safe and secure.

Here are some of the following things that SBI customers should remember regarding all aspects of their digital banking, digital transactions, electronic payments and social media security.

Connection security:

Try to use unique and complex passwords

Remember to change your password frequently

Never share, store or write down your username, passwords or PIN

Remember that the bank never asks you for your User ID/Passwords/Card number/PIN/Passwords/CVV/OTP

Disable the “Autosave” or “Remember” feature on your device to avoid storing user ID and passwords.

Internet security:

Always look for “https” in the bank’s website address bar

Avoid online banking in public places by using open Wi-Fi networks

Always log out and close the browser when you have finished your work.

IPU Security:

. Try to keep your Mobile PIN and UPI PIN different and random

Do not respond to any unknown UPI requests

Always report such suspicious requests

· Always remember that a PIN code is only needed to transfer amounts, not to receive

Instantly disable the UPI service on your account if a transaction has occurred without you doing so

Debit/Credit Card Security:

Beware of your surroundings when performing ATM transactions through ATMs or POS devices

・Cover the keypad when entering PIN code

Always verify the authenticity of e-commerce sites before making transactions

Manage your debit card transactions through online banking

Set a limit for card transactions on e-commerce platforms, POS and ATMs, both for domestic and international transactions

Mobile banking security:

· Strong passwords/biometric authorization must be enabled on your phones/laptops/tablets

· Do not share your Mobile PIN with anyone

· Try to use biometric authentication whenever possible

· Do not download any unknown apps suggested by strangers

Apps should be downloaded only through official stores

Regularly monitor the permissions of critical apps installed on your mobile and keep track of unnecessary and unused apps

Avoid connecting phones to public wireless networks

Social Media Security:

Confirm the identity of the person you are interacting with

Do not share your personal/financial information on a social media platform

Do not discuss confidential information in public places and on social media platforms
